Visiting Arrangements

Patient's family and friends are encouraged to visit. There are no formal visiting times at Murray Royal. The frequency of visiting need only be limited by patient's illness, activities and treatment programme.

Visiting is not restricted to a fixed period of time such as half an hour or an hour, but it can be difficult to ensure privacy if patients wish to spend a long period of time in the ward with visitors.

It would be appreciated, however, if visiting could be avoided at meal times.

Similarly patients are not restricted to two visitors at any one time, although we recommend that patients should not have large numbers of visitors at any time.

Patient's visitors should discuss with staff the advisability of children visiting the wards and arrangements for taking patients outside. Family and friends should not visit if they have an infectious condition such as a cough or cold.

Visitors are requested to report to the nurse in charge on arrival at the ward.
