Donation to the Tayside skin cancer research fund

A couple from Guardbridge near St Andrews have donated £325 to the Tayside skin cancer research fund at Ninewells, bringing their fundraising total for the fund to £1000.

Margaret and Sydney Lackie have been fundraising for the department throughout the year aiming to raise £1,000 by the end of the year. In September they donated £675 after holding a series of fundraising events including Margaret completing a 5km sponsored walk.

Margaret has been holding bake sales, selling chutney and apple jelly to reach her target. Margaret said, “I was determined to reach my goal by the end of the year and thanks to friends and family I have managed to reach it. It’s for a good cause and has been worth it. I really enjoyed all the baking and walking.”

Accepting the cheque, Professor Proby said, “I would like to thank Mr and Mrs Lackie again for their generous donation to the Tayside skin cancer fund.

“This is a tremendous effort and we are extremely grateful for Mrs Lackie's magnificent fundraising efforts by her bake sales. This donation will go towards research which will help future generations of patients who are diagnosed with skin cancer.”
