People affected by cancer or other life limiting illnesses are being invited to attend specialist support services at Cornhill Macmillan Centre in Perth.

Cornhill Macmillan Centre is a purpose built specialist palliative care unit based on the Perth Royal Infirmary site and staffed by a dedicated team.

The Specialist Day Care Services provide specialist support and advice for people living with cancer or a life limiting illness, and their families.

The centre offers several outpatient services, including self management workshops, carer support, benefits advice, one-to-one support and relaxation programmes.

The unit’s Where Now? course, run in partnership with Maggie’s Centre in Dundee, aims to support people affected by cancer make the adjustment from completing treatment to follow up care. It focuses on exercise, healthy eating, emotional wellbeing and managing post-treatment challenges over seven sessions.

The latest Where Now? course takes place on Tuesdays between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

A new course which helps friends and family supporting someone with cancer has also recently started at the centre.

The six-week course, also run with Maggie’s Centre, aims to provide information and support to friends and family and also gives people the opportunity to ask questions or raise issues about being a carer.
