Forfar GP surgeries invite patients to name new practice

Academy Medical Centre and Ravenswood Surgery in Forfar are inviting their patients to come up with a name for their new practice which will open later this year following a merger of the two practices.

The new practice will replace the existing practices, based on the existing site of Academy Medical Centre.

If you would like to suggest a name, please write to either of the practices, or send an email to forfarmerger.tayside@nhs.net, remembering to add your name and phone number. Please reply by Sunday, 22 February to ensure your suggestion is considered.

Members of the Patient Participation Group will consider all suggestions and prepare a short list which will be published in the Forfar Dispatch and Kirriemuir Herald early in March, with the public invited to vote for the winner in person or by emailing or writing to the surgeries.

Maxine Jones, Project Manager for the venture, said, “Planning is well underway for the new practice and patients from both practices have been getting involved in helping us to shape future services.

“We have undertaken a public survey over recent weeks to enable patients to tell us what works well about the care they currently receive from their general practice and where they would like to see improvements made.

“We are really grateful that people have taken the time to complete the survey and we have taken on board every suggestion and comment.

“We would encourage patients interested in helping to shape the care they receive to get involved in the Patient Participation Group currently running at Academy Medical Centre. We extend a warm welcome to any patients registered with Academy Medical Centre or Ravenswood Surgery to get involved. Please speak to the practice manager at either practice to find out more.”

Anyone registered with either practice who has any comments or suggestions about the process should contact the practice manager of either practice or email forfarmerger.tayside@nhs.net.
