Forfar GP surgeries reveal shortlist of names for new practice

Academy Medical Centre and Ravenswood Surgery in Forfar invited their patients to come up with a name for their new practice and a shortlist of two names has been announced.

Diane Meek, Practice Manager at Academy Medical Centre, said, “There have been lots of great suggestions made for a name for the new practice, with 33 suggestions on the table for consideration.

“We are really grateful that people have taken the time to make suggestions for a new name, as well as make positive suggestions about the improvements they would like to see in the new practice.

“We asked our Patient Participation Group to consider all the suggested names and come up with a shortlist of preferred options. We’d now like to invite the public to get involved in voting for the final practice name.”

Andrea Brown, Practice Manager at Ravenswood Surgery continued: “We are happy that we are now at a stage where we have been able to share some information about the new healthcare model, taking onboard feedback and concerns from both our patient populations.

“It is great that so many people have contributed to this process and we are excited to know what our patients will decide is the most fitting name for our new practice.”

The short listed names for the practice are:

    • Chapel Park Healthcare Centre

    • Steeple Healthcare Centre

There will be boards on display in the reception area of both practices between 13 and 27 March where you can add your vote or you can send in your preferred name by email to forfarmerger.tayside.@nhsnet

The name of the new practice will be announced during the first week of April.

The new practice, which will open in the summer of this year, on the current site of Academy Medical Centre, will offer an exciting new model of general practice for their patients.

Patients registered with the practices received a letter in February providing information about the merger, including information based on the questions raised during the recent patient survey.
