The Chief Executive and Chairman of NHS Tayside visited Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar today (Wednesday, 18 March) to visit the catering department and help with food service as part of Nutrition and Hydration Week.

Chief Executive Lesley McLay and Chairman Sandy Watson met with staff in the catering department to see how food for patients is produced. They then visited Clova Ward to meet patients and help with the meal service.

Following on from serving patients, Ms McLay and Mr Watson also met catering, nursing and dietetic staff to speak about food and drink provision within the health centre and were treated to a tasting session of the lunch that patients received.

Lesley McLay said, “I’m delighted to be supporting Nutrition and Hydration Week and visiting Whitehills today to hear first hand from staff how they ensure that our patients receive the best nutrition possible during their stay.

“Good nutrition and hydration is key to a patient’s recovery so it’s a vital part of our care.”

The Tayside Nutrition Managed Clinical Network have planned a series of events aimed at staff and visitors throughout the week to promote the ongoing work that ensures good nutrition and hydration for patients across Tayside’s hospitals.
