FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NHS Tayside information event about gender identity services

The informal evening event in Dundee for trans people and their families is one of a series being held across the country by the National Gender Identity Clinical Network for Scotland (NGICNS).

The Tayside event is part of NGICNS strategy to connect with people with gender identity issues across the country and aims to hear about people's experiences with transgender services and receive feedback about what is being done well and to listen to ideas for improvement.

The event will include presentations from NGICNS and NHS Tayside to outline what is happening in transgender service provision nationally and locally with most of the evening dedicated to hearing from service users to allow them to influence and shape the services that are provided for them.

Linda Graham, Consultant Clinical Psychologist with NHS Tayside said, “We are delighted to bring together key individuals from the National Gender Identity Clinical Network for Scotland with the local people who need and use our specialist gender identity services.

“Trans people and their families and supporters are the only ones who can help us properly understand what we are doing well and where we need to improve our healthcare services.   In setting up this informal evening event we hope that as many people who identify as having transgender issues as possible - whether they are currently in touch with services or not - will be motivated to come along and have their say.”

The event, with refreshments, is being held on Tuesday, 25 August from 6 – 8pm in the Conference Centre, Cairn Centre, 12 Rattray Street, Dundee.

Anyone interested in attending should register on the NGICNS website at www.ngicns.scot.nhs.uk
