IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Men’s Shed project in Perth – under construction!

Anyone interested in taking part in a new Men’s Shed project in Perth and Kinross is being encouraged to attend a public meeting to find out more.

Men’s Sheds is a concept that originated in Australia to create somewhere men can call their own, where they can spend time sharing skills, knowledge and interests in a relaxed atmosphere.

Men’s Sheds provide a place for men to gather and participate in a number of activities whilst supporting each other.

The project has gained in popularity across the world and has now been introduced to Perth and Kinross.

A Men’s Shed project currently runs successfully in Carse of Gowrie and is supported by Perth & Kinross Healthy Communities Collaborative.

The Perth & Kinross Healthy Communities Collaborative, supported by NHS Tayside, Perth & Kinross Council and PKAVS, is now inviting members of the public to attend a meeting to find out more about starting a new Men’s Shed in Perth.

Perth and Kinross Health Communities Collaborative project manager Jackie Doe said, “Men’s Sheds are friendly environments that cater for men of all interests, ages and cultures and serve as important meeting places for men to socialise, share life experiences and skills, make things, fix things and support each other and their communities.

“It has already been a great success in the Carse of Gowrie and we are keen to start another project in Perth if people in the local community would like to be involved.”

The meeting is being held at 6.30pm on Wednesday, 7 October in Gleanearn Campus, Glenearn Road, Perth. Refreshments will be provided.
