FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New long term conditions support group for Edzell

Patients living with a long term condition in the Edzell area are invited to attend the first meeting of a new support group. The meeting will be held in Edzell Health Centre on Tuesday, 27 October from 2- 4pm.

Marion Preston, Lead Facilitator for Angus long term conditions support groups said, “We are inviting people to come along, meet members from other long term conditions groups and tell us what they would like from a group meeting in the Edzell area.

“Angus long term conditions support groups already run monthly in Forfar, Carnoustie and Montrose. The groups are open to adults living with any long term condition and aim to provide people with access to ongoing information, education and support from others also living with a long term condition.

“We arrange speakers to attend the groups to talk about relevant topics and we work closely with NHS Tayside who help us access reliable, up-to-date information about local services and support.”

Edzell GP Dr Jacobs is hosting the new group. He said, “We know how important it is for people to have access to accurate information and ongoing support to help them manage their long term conditions.

“People are increasingly living with more than one long term condition which can make it harder for people to find the information they need to live well.

“I am really pleased that Angus long term conditions support groups are setting up this new group in Edzell and look forward to working with them over coming months to get it up and running.”
