The latest group of Employability Services students have celebrated their award ceremony at Dundee and Angus College Kingsway Campus.

The group of 13 students completed a seven week pre-employment programme which is delivered in partnership with NHS Tayside and Dundee and Angus College. The programme incorporates college-based learning with practical experience gained on placements across various departments in NHS Tayside.

During their time on the course, students gained certificates in manual handling, infection control and food hygiene. They also gained knowledge of basic first aid, IT skills and were given a unique opportunity to experience a pre-placement education day. Students also had access to three short placements in a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings.

Director of Curriculum at Dundee and Angus College Dorothee Leslie presented certificates to the successful students at the award ceremony attended by family and friends.

Dorothee said, “The Employability Services programme is a stellar example of how real partnership leads to success and improves lives. Twenty nine cohorts of students have now benefitted from the close and effective working relationships between Dundee and Angus College, NHS Tayside, Skills Development Scotland and Jobcentre Plus.

“These individuals have not only greatly enhanced their own lives and employment opportunities, they will also make a difference in our community.  The college is very much looking forward to a continued and sustained partnership and to the next 29 cohorts of students!”

NHS Tayside HR Lead for Employability Services Alison Smith said, “Employability Services is an excellent example of multi-agency partnership working. I would like to commend the students for their hard work and commitment over the last seven weeks, and wish them every success in their future careers.”
