A Perthshire fundraiser has donated more than £500 to Ward 9 at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee.

Kirsten Roper, who has a rare complex urinary disorder called Fowler’s Syndrome, made the donation in recognition of the care she has received during treatment in Ninewells.

The money was raised at a fundraising pub quiz and raffle in the Abbotsford Bar in Perth.

Kirsten and her dad Brian Roper visited the urology and surgical ward at Ninewells to donate the cheque for £561 to the nursing team.

Kirsten said, “We decided to do the event because I suffer from a rare complex disorder, Fowler’s Syndrome, which affects my bladder. As a result I have had over a dozen stays in Ward 9 since being diagnosed in September 2014.

“I've always received excellent care from the wonderful staff and wanted to give something back in recognition of this. I also work tirelessly to raise awareness of Fowler’s Syndrome in the hope that one day a cure will be found.”

Senior charge nurse Gillian Birrell said, “We want to thank Kirsten for her fundraising efforts. We are extremely grateful for this kind donation. The money will be used for patient comforts in the ward so will be much appreciated.”
