Ninewells community garden open day

An open day is being held by volunteers in the community garden in the grounds of Ninewells Hospital on Sunday, 28 August.

Ninewells community garden will be open to the public on Sunday, 28 August between 1 and 4pm.

Visitors will be able to see the various plants, flowers, herbs and vegetables grown in the garden, buy plants and enjoy activities such as mosaic making and a scavenger hunt, refreshments and home baking.

There will be activities for children and information about the wildlife that visits the garden. Demonstrations of how to grow herbs will be given as well as wildlife activities and information on therapeutic gardening.

Garden facilitator, Sarah Griffiths, said, “We have a beautiful garden here at Ninewells. All the hard work our volunteer gardeners is really showing, with an abundance of flowers, food and wildlife.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming visitors to our open day with a fun packed day full of activities for all the family, plant sales and tasty home baking.”

It is hoped that the open day will raise awareness of the garden and the opportunities that it offers to the local community and the hospital. Admission is free.
