Ready Steady Toddler

A resource provided by NHS Health Scotland that gives a range of information about “Toddlerhood”, not just the development of communication. Under the ‘Everyday routines’ heading there is a section on communication which includes tips on supporting your toddler's talking skills.

ICAN is the children’s communication charity. This website is full of useful information and links.
They offer a range of engaging resources for practitioners and parents to use with their children. The latest are the ‘Babbling Babies’ and ‘Toddler Talk’ activity packs for children aged from 0-3.

Makaton uses signs, symbols and speech to help people communicate. Signs are used, with speech, in spoken word order. This helps provide extra clues about what someone is saying. Using signs can help people who have no speech or whose speech is unclear. Using symbols can help people who have limited speech and those who cannot, or prefer not to sign.
