Who are we?
Perth Royal Infirmary Services:
Our Clinical Photography Services produce photographs and video, used to diagnose and/or monitor diseases/conditions. These recordings may also be useful for teaching purposes. Our Clinical photographers are NHS Tayside Healthcare Scientists, who are required to have a BSc Degree in Clinical Photography. They undertake photography and video in the Clinical photography studio, on wards and operating theatres.
We are located on Level 3, just before the lifts to the wards.
Ninewells Hospital and the Dundee Dental Hospital Services:
The clinical photographers are employed by Dundee University, under contract to NHS Tayside. They all have professional qualifications to undertake photography and video in the Clinical photography studio, on the wards and in operating theatres. Consent to Clinical Photography/Video
You must be asked to give your consent to clinical photography / video, no matter who is making the recordings.
If this is by a Clinical Photographer it will be the Clinical Photography Form B.
If it is by another member of staff, it must be the Consent for Clinical Photography / Video / Audio Recordings Form F.
When you have photographs or video recordings taken within the hospital or by NHS Tayside staff in the community, you have the choice of how they are used. You have the right to change your mind about the permission you have agreed to at any time. Please note that in the case of Publication consent, if you do decide to withdraw your consent at a later date, it may not be possible to recover your images, once in the public domain. In signing that part of the consent form you are agreeing to this.
Please contact the department you attended, if you wish to change your consent or have any questions regarding photographs within the hospital.
In the case of community staff, contact the person who took the photographs or video recordings.
The Different Levels of Consent are:-
The photographs or video will only be used for your medical care. Sometimes it may be necessary to forward photographs to other hospitals in relation to your care.
Photographs or video can be used to show your particular condition or treatment to medical students or other healthcare professionals. These recordings may be taken outside the hospital, however the files will be encrypted (security protected).
Photographs can be of such interest, that a consultant or doctor may wish to publish them in a medical journal or text book. Most of these publications are available online, so you should be aware that your photographs will be available to view by the public. This also applies to non-clinical photographs, taken of you for hospital publications and posters. If you decide to withdraw your consent at a later date, it may not be possible to recover them, once in the public domain. In signing that part of the consent form you are agreeing to this.
