Welcome to the Department of Dermatology website which provides information for patients, relatives, students, healthcare professionals and the general public.

Our aim is to deliver world-class comprehensive care, education and research for the people of Tayside, Angus and North East Fife living with skin disease.

About Us

The main base of the department is at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, where there is an 11-bed dedicated in-patient ward, a fully integrated outpatient department, including phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, skin surgery, and laser facilities and an outpatient treatment centre. Peripheral clinics are held at Perth, Stracathro, Arbroath, St. Andrews and Cupar.

There are oupatient therapy centres including phototherapy at Perth Royal Infirmary, Stracathro Hospital and St. Andrews Community Hospital.

Located within the department is the National Referral Centre for Photobiology and Porphyria.

The Dermatology Cancer Centre, opened in 2007, provides state-of the art facilities for investigation and treatment of skin cancer, including the North of Scotland Cancer Network (NOSCAN) Macmillan's Moh's service.


Many different professionals work together at the Department of Dermatology to deliver care for people with a wide range of skin conditions. This team includes: medical doctors, nurses, scientists, technicians, medical photographers and administration staff.
