Data sharing

DOT constellation1
We would recommend reviewing your diabetes data every 2 weeks. Many diabetes devices will upload your data to the cloud automatically which is useful for sharing with parents/carers and the clinical team.  Some devices require a manual upload using a home computer and this can be done using a service called Glooko.
Glooko is an online service for the diabetes community to get the most out of their diabetes devices.  It can accept data from many of the devices used in our clinic (see here for a list of compatible devices), it is free to use regardless of your device and it is easy to upload and share data with the team.
Using Glooko provides an easy way to can help detect patterns or problems that might need addressed. Dealing with problems early is much more effective than leaving them to grow into major issues.
The Glooko website provides a Quick Start Guide on how to get started and how to view your data (available in a number of languages).  The key steps are:
  1. Sign up for a personal account
  2. Install the Glooko mobile app or access my.glooko.com on a computer (PC or Mac)
  3. Upload or sync your data to Glooko - for some devices this requires the Glooko uploader to be installed on a computer, whilst other devices can be synced using a mobile phone and the Glooko mobile app.
  4. View your diabetes data
  5. Share your data with the DOT team using our ProConnect Code - contact the team for the right code
For further information about how to upload and view data from any of your diabetes devices, go to the Glooko support webpages.

Viewing your data and making changes

The Glooko Quick Start Guide provides advice on viewing your data via charts and graphs.  What you see will depend on the device you are using (i.e. blood glucose meter, flash sensor, CGM or pump), but the key information (see figure below) remains the same.  If you would like help from the team to interpret the data or make changes, take a record of this key information and contact us.  The best way to do this is by emailing us at tay.diabetesouttheretayside@nhs.scot.
