A Brief Introduction To The YPU
The YPU is a purpose built modern building called Dudhope Young Peoples Inpatient Unit, set in parkland at 17 Dudhope Terrace, Dundee, DD3 6HH close to the city centre with views of the River Tay.
The YPU is a mental health facility where young people who encounter emotional difficulties or a psychiatric illness, affecting them and their families can spend time as an inpatient.

The staff are a team made up of different disciplines (multi disciplinary team /MDT) including, doctors, nurses, psychologists, social worker, a family therapist, speech & language therapist, dietician, occupational therapists, teachers, healthcare support workers, domestic support staff and administrative staff. There are also other professionals, who visit regularly such as an NHS Chaplain, young people’s advocacy workers and Pets as Therapy (PAT) dogs, with their owner.
