Visitor Information

Visitors and family play an important role in the welfare of our patients, however, a visiting policy is essential to promote the health, safety, privacy and infection prevention and control, of our patients and our community.

All visitors to the Rohallion Clinic will require collecting from main reception and escorting to the area they are visiting.

We have provision for child visiting to Rohallion. This requires to be agreed with the Multi-Disciplinary Team before these visits go ahead. Please contact the Ward Charge Nurse in the first instance.

The walk through security scanner is now in place and imminently all visitors to the medium secure service will be subject to random searches to ensure the safety of the Unit.

Visiting Times

Visiting times should be pre-arranged with the appropriate ward.

As per the NHS Tayside Protected Meal Time Policy all visitors will be asked to leave the visiting areas when meals are being served.

Patient Visitors

For visitors to the medium secure wards, proof of identity will be required for example utility bill, driver’s license, etc. There will be provision provided with lockers for valuables (including personal effects such as handbags etc) or items that are prohibited within the clinic.

Reception will require to contact wards when visitors arrive to ensure visitors are on the named visitors sheet and that it is suitable for a visit to go ahead.

Professional Visitors

These visits must be pre arranged with the relevant senior staff and an agreed time for visit planned (inclusive of other visiting doctors/solicitors/Advocacy).

All professional visitors including advocacy to the Rohallion Clinic Medium Secure Service must provide photographic identification or no access will be allowed. In instances where no photographic identification can be provided admission will only be authorised when verification is sought by senior member of Rohallion team or should provide a signed mandate from organisation or letter of instruction from Solicitors.

Staff should ensure that appropriate proof of professional status is requested, this will allow for case notes being available for the visiting medical professional and that clear reasons for the visit are identified prior to admittance to the ward.

These visits may need to be supervised dependant on the patient’s present mental health. Professional visitors will have collected an alarm at reception and received instruction on how to operate it. There is a designated interview room for these visits. Any items agreed that require to be taken into the tribunal suite will be put in clear plastic wallets provided by reception staff.
