Dr Shepherd has worked for the NHS since 1975 and in Tayside since 1980. Since 1987 has worked as Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist in Perth Royal Infirmary. He is currently Chair of the Area Clinical Forum in Tayside. Dr Shepherd's appointment is from 1 June 2006 until 31 May 2012.
