Mr Sandy Watson, OBE DL, retired Chief Executive of Angus Council, represented local government on the Carter Review of Public Health Medicine and was a member of the Physical Activity Task Force set up by the Minister for Health.

As Chief Executive of Angus Council, he was a member of the Health Improvement Committee of NHS Tayside and is committed to improving the interface between Health and its various partners through Community Planning and Community Health Partnerships.

Mr Watson has chaired Angus College Board of Management, has been a member of the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council, has chaired the Scottish Advisory Committee of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, and has had a long involvement with Young Scot.

He is currently a member of the National Performance Management Committee and the Research Advisory Group on Pilot Elections to NHS Boards

He was awarded an OBE for services to local government in 2003, and was appointed Deputy Lieutenant for Angus in November 2007.

Mr Watson's appointment is for four years from 3 December 2007 until 30 November 2011.
