Community Macmillan Nursing Service

• We are experienced nurses who have had further training in the management of symptoms associated with cancer and its treatments.
• We work with General Practitioners and Community Nurses visiting people in their home.
• We provide support and information for patients, their families and carers regarding cancer, treatment and help coming to terms with the diagnosis and the effect on the individual's life.
• We are a specialist resource for other professionals regarding issues related to cancer.

Our service is provided within the framework of the NHS and we work in full co-operation with your own G. P. and hospital services.

Our services are provided free of charge. Our office base is at the Macmillan Day Care Centre and the nurses are available Monday - Friday, 8.30am-5.00pm.

Not all people with cancer will need a Macmillan Nurse and it is usually the case that the G. P. or District Nurse has asked the Macmillan Nurse to meet the patient and family.
