Role of the Department

The department is responsible for the management of arrangements made with practitioners for the provision of general medical, dental, pharmaceutical and ophthalmic services for the population of Tayside.  We provide advice, guidance and information on Primary Care matters to the practitioners contracted to provide the service, other departments within NHS Tayside, various external agencies, professional bodies and members of the public.

In addition, the department has responsibility for authorising payments to practitioners who provide primary care services.
