FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Volunteer drivers for Angus transport team urgently required

Volunteer drivers are urgently required to join the busy Angus Patient Transport Team. Drivers are needed from all areas of Angus to meet increased demand, but especially from Arbroath, Carnoustie and Monifieth.

NHS volunteer drivers use their own cars to transport patients who are unable to use public transport to get to clinic appointments and to Macmillan Day Care Centres in Angus.

Drivers must be under 75 years of age and in good health. They must be careful drivers with a clean driving licence and have a cheerful, caring nature. The caring support our drivers provide makes a real difference to patients.

Drivers specify when they are available, how many runs per week they wish to do and distances they are happy to drive. Costs are reimbursed through a mileage allowance which is paid at the end of each month.

If you would like more information about becoming a volunteer driver or about other volunteer roles in Angus, please contact Susan Hamill, Voluntary Services Manager, on 01356 665110.
