Dementia network welcomes top European researchers

The Scottish Dementia Clinical Research Network (SDCRN) will this week welcome 40 of Europe’s top Alzheimer’s disease researchers to Edinburgh University.

The SDCRN is a national network based at Murray Royal Hospital in Perth. The Perth Centre of the network is co-hosting the European Alzheimer’s Disease Consortium’s (EADC) prestigious annual two-day meeting on Thursday and Friday along with the Alzheimer’s Scotland Dementia Research Centre.

This is the first time the EADC meeting has been held in Scotland and will see researchers from Sweden, France, Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Finland, Slovenia, Portugal, Greece and the UK.

Dr Peter Connelly, Co-Director of the SDCRN and NHS Tayside consultant in old age psychiatry, will be speaking at the meeting about research to find an early diagnosis for Alzheimer's disease.

Five of the EADC members are also taking time out to speak at a symposium to Scottish doctors, researchers and students on Thursday morning.

The SDCRN supports dementia research across Scotland through conferences, supporting clinical trials and encouraging people with dementia to be involved in research studies. For more information about SDCRN please visit www.sdcrn.org.uk
