£4,500 donated to centre for brain injury rehabilitation

Stuart McGahie and his family have donated £4,500 to the Centre for Brain Injury Rehabilitation (CBIR) at Royal Victoria Hospital.

Stuart McGahie from Inchture climbed Ben Nevis with 14 of his family and friends to raise money for CBIR. So far the group have raised £4,500 and still have donations coming in.

Stuart, who was treated in the CBIR unit following a car accident in April 2013, decided to raise money for the ward after he spent several weeks there recovering from his injuries.

Stuart said, “I wanted to thank everyone for the care and treatment I received during my time there. Until the crash I had never heard of CBIR and I am very grateful for everything they did for me.”

Accepting the cheque, consultant Douglas Gentleman said, “On behalf of the department I would like to thank the McGahie family and their friends for this magnificent fundraising effort. It was a great pleasure to look after Stuart. He worked very hard to get over the effects of the brain injury.”
