£600 donated to upper GI cancer research fund
An Angus woman has donated £600 to the upper GI cancer research fund in ward 32 at Ninewells Hospital.
Lesley Fenton celebrated her 60th birthday in October by having afternoon tea with a large group of friends. Instead of gifts she asked her friends to make a donation.
Lesley decided to donate this money to the research fund in memory of her husband Peter who passed away 11 years ago from oesophagus cancer.
Lesley said, “I have donated money to various cancer charities over the years but this time I wanted to do something in memory of my husband who was treated on ward 32.”
Accepting the cheque, consultant Douglas Adamson said, “We are very appreciative of this donation and would like to thank Lesley for her kindness. The money will go towards research into gastro-intestinal cancer in Tayside. We are currently working on a project to improve chemotherapy treatment and side-effects and this kind donation will help support this work.”
