Dundee FC spread festive cheer at Tayside Children’s Hospital

There were smiles all round at Tayside Children’s Hospital yesterday (Monday) when Dundee Football Club stopped by to spread some Christmas cheer.

Players and staff brought sack loads of gifts for patients in the children’s medical ward, surgical ward and outpatient clinics.

Young fans also had the opportunity to get autographs and pose for photographs with their favourite players.

Senior charge nurse Suzie Byer said, “Everyone at Tayside Children’s Hospital loves it when the Dundee FC team comes in to visit us, especially at this time of year.

“Nobody likes being in hospital during the festive period but it can be especially hard for children and their families. Visits like this really help lift their spirits and make them feel special during what can be a very difficult time.

“The players are great with the children and always manage to make them smile. It’s also nice that they bring along presents for them to give them an early Christmas surprise.

“On behalf of all the patients and staff, I would like to thank the players and staff for taking the time to come and visit us and to brighten up our day.”

Dundee FC club captain Kevin Thomson added, “It was a great opportunity for us to give our best wishes to the Ninewells staff who do such a great job and to meet some very deserving kids. Seeing the smiles on their faces was the highlight of the day for all the boys.”
