Donation to the coronary care unit
A couple from Dundee donated £500 to the coronary care unit (CCU) at Ninewells Hospital today (Monday, 27 April)
Vicky Jooty, who was a staff nurse at the Kingsway Care Centre retired last month after more than 40 years service, wanted to raise money for CCU after her husband Dave had treatment there.
Instead of gifts at her retirement party she asked her friends and colleagues to make a donation.
Vicky said, “I didn’t want any gifts when I retired, so I asked if anyone would like to make a donation instead. I thought it was a nice way to say thank you to the staff at CCU for all the care and attention they gave my husband.”
Dave, known as Jooty said, “The staff at Ninewells A&E and CCU were tremendous. I also spent time at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and can’t fault the care and treatment I received at either hospital. Thank you to everyone who made a donation and to all the staff who took great care of me.”
Accepting the cheque, consultant cardiologist Professor Stuart Pringle, said “It is so kind of Mrs Jooty to make this contribution to the cardiology department which will help us to look after current and future patients.
“It is important to have funds we can use for the benefit of patient comfort as well as staff training and education to improve the care we can provide.”
