Perth Maternity Unit Open Day
The Perth Community Maternity Unit (CMU) is holding a family open day.
Families are invited to join staff at the event, where they will get the chance to take part in a range of activities including a tour around the unit, hypnosis for childbirth, face painting, afternoon tea and a variety of stalls.
The event is taking place on Saturday 27, June between 1.30 and 4pm.
The midwife-led unit, based at Perth Royal Infirmary, offers antenatal care and postnatal care to all women, as well as birth facilities for low risk women. More than 3000 babies have been born in the CMU since it opened a decade ago.
They also offer antenatal classes, a physiotherapy service for pregnant women and infant feeding workshops, together with several breast-feeding support groups.
The event coincides with Breastfeeding Awareness Week and the presentation of the UNICEF Baby Friendly Initiative Award, which the unit achieved in March 2015.
Midwifery team lead Audrey McIntyre-Miller said, “We hope people come along to the open day to see our unit and meet the staff. There will be a variety of stalls, activities on offer for everyone.
“We welcome all mums who have had a baby or are expecting one this year to come along to the open day.”
