Ninewells community garden open day
An open day is being held by volunteers in the community garden in the grounds of Ninewells Hospital on Sunday, 9 August.
Ninewells community garden will be open to the public on Sunday, 9 August between 2 and 5pm. Visitors will be able to see the various plants, flowers, herbs and vegetables grown in the garden, buy plants and enjoy activities, refreshments and home baking.
There will be activities for children and information about the wildlife that visits the garden. Demonstrations of how to make herbal remedies will be given with guided walks around the herbal garden on offer along with information on therapeutic gardening.
Garden facilitator, Sarah Griffiths, said, “We have a beautiful garden here at Ninewells. All the hard work our volunteer gardeners have put in is really showing, with an abundance of flowers, food and wildlife.
“We are really looking forward to welcoming visitors to our open day with a fun packed day full of activities for all the family, plant sales and tasty home baking.”
It is hoped that the open day will raise awareness of the garden and the opportunities that it offers to the local community and the hospital. There is a £3.00 admission charge for adults whilst children go free. Any funds raised will be used to enhance the garden.
