Over £12000 donated to Roxburghe House

Roxburghe House in Dundee has received a £12,000 donation from Tayside legal firm Miller Hendry in memory of two colleagues Eileen Matthew and Jennifer Adams.

A sponsored walk was organised by Eileen’s husband Alan, a partner at Miller Hendry, along with their daughters, Katherine and Eleanor, raising a total of £12,024.76 through public and corporate donations in the ladies’ memories. Tayside Solicitors Property Centre, where Eileen was formerly a director, made a very generous donation of £1000.

The walk started at Auchallater near the Glenshee Ski Centre and progressed along Jocks Road for over 19 kilometres through Scottish scenery, finishing at Glen Doll where there was a BBQ for the walkers and sponsors.

Accepting the cheque senior charge nurse Marnie Ferguson said, "We would like to thank Alan and his family, his colleagues at Miller Hendry Solicitors, Tayside Solicitors Property Centre, and all who contributed in raising such a fantastic amount to benefit our service.  This donation will enable us to enhance the care and comforts provided to people cared for within Specialist Palliative Care Services."

Non-executive member of Tayside NHS Board Munwar Hussain attended the handover of the funds on behalf of NHS Tayside. Munwar said, “We're delighted that Miller Hendry has taken the time to raise funds for Roxburghe House in memory of Eileen and Jennifer. This is an exceptionally generous donation that will go a long way in helping us to provide first class compassionate care and a comfortable environment for patients.”
