Wheelchair accessible car donated to Roxburghe House
A partnership between Clydesdale Bank and Hospice UK has provided a new wheelchair accessible vehicle for Macmillan Day Care and Roxburghe House at Royal Victoria Hospital.
A local fundraising team led by Jackie Campbell at Clydesdale Bank in Dundee raised a magnificent £22,955 during the 2014 fundraising season. This money was match-funded by an additional 50% by Clydesdale Bank through its partnership with Hospice UK and this generous donation has now supported the purchase of a new wheelchair accessible car for the Specialist Palliative Care Service in Dundee.
Patients attending Macmillan Day Care and inpatients at Roxburghe House have a variety of transport needs to allow them to attend clinics and to go on home visits and social or recreational outings.
The Macmillan Day Care centre relies on support from volunteer drivers to transport patients with nearly 7000 volunteer journeys provided last year.
The new car will also be used by staff to support patients in Roxburghe House.
Clinical Coordinator, Jane Andrew, said, “I would like to sincerely thank Jackie Campbell and all her fundraising supporters at Clydesdale Bank for their ongoing commitment and support to Roxburghe House and Macmillan Day Care.
“The comfort and quality of the service that we can provide is enhanced by the generous support that we receive. The new car is a safer and more comfortable vehicle both for the people who require a wheelchair and for our drivers and I’m sure that it will be well used and much appreciated.”
Jackie Campbell added, “I’m very proud to see Roxburghe House take delivery of this fantastic new patient transport vehicle which will help to improve the invaluable service the hospice provides to the local community.
“Through Clydesdale Bank’s charity partnership with Hospice UK, we have undertaken a wide range of fundraising initiatives and would like to thank everyone for their support which has helped us to achieve our target to buy this new car.”
