The Dr Bike Team from Perth’s Bike Station held a free bike maintenance and safety event at Murray Royal Hospital to encourage more people to get active and think about cycling.

The Dr Bike team was on hand to offer help and advice and free bike maintenance to staff and the public at Murray Royal Hospital as part of an initiative by NHS Tayside to promote safe cycling.

The session attracted people already interested in cycling and others who wanted tips on cycling to work or just cycling for leisure. The team offered tips on buying a bike, how to fix a bike and gave away free lights and puncture repair kits.

A healthy fresh fruit breakfast was organised for staff before the event to help highlight the importance of having a healthy lifestyle.

Sylvia Mudie, senior practitioner in public health with NHS Tayside said, “Murray Royal recently gained the Cycling Scotland Cycle Friendly Employer Award, so this bike event was perfectly timed. I’d like to thank Mark and his team from the Bike Station for their support.

“As a health promoting health service we want to enable all our staff to find ways to be active at work and this event is just one of the many ways we will be promoting an active workplace and an active workforce.”
