GP flu vaccination clinics
NHS Tayside is encouraging members of the public in at-risk groups, as well as healthcare workers, to take up the offer of a free seasonal flu vaccination.
The national seasonal flu vaccination campaign launches in October and NHS Tayside is backing the call for those who are most at risk to protect themselves from flu.
The vaccine is available free of charge from GP practices for people in at-risk groups, pregnant women, those aged 65 years and over and unpaid carers.
Drop-in clinics are being held in the following GP practices:

Children aged between two and five who are not at school can also receive the new childhood flu immunisation at their GP surgery. Please contact the practice to arrange appointments.
All NHS Tayside staff and volunteers are also encouraged to take up the offer of a flu jab at staff clinics and participating community pharmacies across Tayside to protect themselves and vulnerable patients who may be more likely to suffer complications from flu.
NHS Tayside Consultant in Public Health Dr Daniel Chandler said, “Flu can be a serious illness, even in fit, healthy people. It makes people feel extremely unwell for many days and full recovery normally takes a week. Even fit and healthy people can develop more serious consequences and can require hospitalisation.
“For those in the at-risk groups, the complications of seasonal flu can be deadly. The best way to be protected is to get the jab – and the earlier the better – as this will stop flu from spreading to others who might be at risk.
“The vaccine is normally just one jab given by a health professional. It only takes a few moments and offers protection for around a year.”
