Dundee woman Patricia Robertson has generously donated £28,000 to three wards at Ninewells Hospital following a windfall investment.
Ms Robertson was welcomed to the hospital by NHS Tayside Chairman Professor John Connell, Chief Executive Lesley McLay, Chief Operating Officer Lorna Wiggin, Head of Paediatric Nursing, Jeanette Fitzgerald and senior charge nurses from the wards 32 and 6.
Patricia handed over cheques for £14,000 to paediatric ward 29, £7,000 to oncology ward 32 and £7,000 to medicine for the elderly ward 6.
Speaking about her donations, Ms Robertson said, “I have saved money all my life and have made some investments. Despite all the recent financial troubles, my investments have been profitable and I decided to donate the proceeds to my local NHS.
“I chose wards 32 and 6 because I have had family members including my mother and aunt treated with great care in these wards over the years. After watching a programme on television recently about a young boy who was getting kidney dialysis three times a week, I was so moved that I decided to also donate to the children’s ward.”
NHS Tayside Chairman Professor John Connell said, “We are incredibly grateful to Ms Robertson for her extremely generous donations which will benefit a huge number of patients from across Tayside, from children right through to our more elderly patients.”
