Christmas bake off raises £310 for MND Scotland

Staff in the neurology ward at Ninewells Hospital held a Christmas bake off and raised £310 for MND Scotland.

Staff from ward 23A paid a £5 fee to enter the competition that was judged by their very own ‘Dr Hollywood’ and ‘Mary Berry’. The cakes were then sold off to raise more money for MND Scotland.

Charge nurse Laura McEwan said, “The neurology ward has looked after many patients with MND so we thought it would be a great idea to raise money for the charity. I am overwhelmed by the amount of people taking part, it’s amazing.”

One of the judges, Consultant Neurosurgeon Kismet Ibrahim, said, “The other judges and I are amazed by the quality and taste of all these delicious cakes. It’s been great fun tasting them all!”

Health care assistant Anne Robertson from ward 23A won the competition saying, “I can’t believe I won! I haven’t baked in years. This was a great way to start again.”
