‘Pyjama Fairy’ makes a special delivery at Ninewells Hospital

Staff at Ninewells received a special delivery yesterday when a ‘Pyjama Fairy’ visited the hospital.

Paediatric occupational therapist Amie Wood, also known as Fairy Brightside, donated 100 sets of pyjamas for Tayside Children’s Hospital and 100 gowns for the labour suite on behalf of the charity Wrap Pyjama Fairies. The garments were handmade by ‘fairies’ from across the UK, including Amie, who dedicate their spare time to making pyjamas and gowns for children in hospital.

The pyjamas are specially designed with front opening to make dressing easier and allow access for healthcare staff. They are made in bright fabrics with fun patterns to help give children an emotional boost and relieve some of the fear children may have whilst in hospital.

Play specialist Una Paton said, “We found out about the charity through the parents of a patient and have been really excited for our delivery. The pyjamas will make such a difference to patients here. The bright colours make them seem less ‘hospitalised’ and more like pyjamas they would have at home, and the wide range of patterns will also allow the kids to feel more individual.”

Please visit wrappyjamafairies.co.uk for information about ordering garments or to become a ‘sewing fairy’.
