‘The Singing garden’ art work for Kinloch Care Centre
A new art work called “The Singing Garden” was unveiled today (Monday) at Kinloch Care Centre in Carnoustie.
The artwork, which was created by Jude Gove, lead artist for Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust and volunteer artist Jemma Ward, was the final part of a Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust’s project at the care home.
Participants in the eight-week programme explored print making and collage techniques.
Lead artist Jude Gove said, “Everyone has produced some really unique pieces, and the new art work was created using elements of the participant’s designs which we have produced on a larger scale and framed. I am delighted at how the participants responded to the printing processes, and they have been a really lovely group of people to work with.”
The print programme is one of a range of creative engagement programmes for people with long-term conditions currently being delivered by THAT. This project was supported by Carnoustie Golf Links and Carnoustie, Barry & Panbride Sick Nursing Association.
THAT development officer Karine Neill said, “This project was about engaging and supporting participants in a creative process but also to deliver a site specific art work for Kinloch Care Centre.
“It has been great to see the group’s enjoyment in creating these wonderful prints.”
Kinloch Care Centre Manager Carole Brunton said, “The comments have all been very positive from the service users and staff about their experience in the programme. We are hoping to continue with the creative sessions and the staff will be able to share their new skills with other participants. We are delighted with the art work created as a direct outcome of this programme.”
THAT was set up in 2002 and promotes creative engagement, using a variety of different art forms, as a means of improving the health and wellbeing of participants with a range of long term conditions.
