Afternoon tea event raises funds for gynaecological cancer department

An afternoon tea event has raised £1,250 for the gynaecological cancer department at Ninewells Hospital.

Ann Nicoll from Dundee was diagnosed with uterine cancer this year and decided to raise money for the department to say thank you for the care she received there. She held a ladies afternoon tea with a tombola and raffle at Strathmartine Church hall.

Ann said, “We had a wonderful afternoon. The church hall was full to capacity. My friends Jean Davidson and Anne Ower helped make sandwiches and other friends made cakes and hot food.

“We were given some very nice prizes for the raffle from local businesses. I am so happy with how successful it’s been and I was able to raise awareness for uterine cancer at the same time.”

Accepting the cheque, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Kalpana Ragupathy said, “On behalf of everyone, a big thank you to Ann for her all her hard work raising money for the department. It is a huge effort on her part, especially since she has organised the fundraiser within few weeks of having major surgery. We are humbled by her generosity and enthusiasm to help other cancer patients.”
