FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Board of Trustees of Tayside Endowment Fund meet to consider 2014 decision

The Board of Trustees of Tayside NHS Board Endowment Fund met today (Tuesday, April 10) to review the evidence which supported the trustees’ decision in February 2014 to allow retrospective applications to the fund to be considered and agreed.

Existing trustees, including new Chairman John Brown, met with former trustees of the fund to discuss the £2.7 million which was applied retrospectively to fund a number of programmes. Today’s review will form the basis of a response which will be sent to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR) at the end of this week.

OSCR will consider the trustees’ response as part of its inquiry into the Tayside NHS Board Endowment Fund announced last week.

Speaking after today’s meeting, Mr Brown said, “It is extremely important that, as the trustees of this fund, we are completely transparent and the public and our staff can see exactly where their donations are going.

“All of our Board of Trustees’ meetings are in public, with the next one on Tuesday, May 22. I would encourage anyone to come along and see how donations and other funds are used and what a difference they are making to health and care here in Tayside.”
