IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Update: Crieff Minor Injury and Illness Unit temporary closure this weekend
Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership advises that due to staffing issues, Crieff Minor Injury and illness Unit (MIIU) will be closed temporarily this weekend.
The MIIU will be closed on Saturday 28 July and Sunday 29 July.
The MIIU will reopen on Monday 30 July between 9am and 5pm. The MIIU is also open during normal operating hours on Tuesday 31 July between 9am and 5pm.
Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership Chief Officer Robert Packham said, “We would like to apologise for any disruption this may cause.
“It is essential that we provide an MIIU service with appropriately skilled staff which is safe for patients and staff. Due to staffing difficulties, we have had to make the decision to restrict the opening of the unit for a temporary period.”
Please see information below about the temporary changes to the operating hours of the MIIU units in Crieff and Pitlochry from Wednesday, 1 August, 2018.
Members of the public are advised that there will be temporary changes to the opening hours of Minor Injury and Illness (MIIU) units in Crieff and Pitlochry from Wednesday, 1 August, 2018.
Due to ongoing recruitment challenges, the opening hours will change temporarily to provide services during the following times:
Pitlochry Minor Illness Injury Unit
Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm
Saturday & Sunday – 9am – 9pm
Crieff Minor Illness Injury Unit
Monday – Friday – 9am – 4:30pm
Advice on accessing the right treatment in the right place, at the right time:
If you have a minor illness or injury that is not serious, such as an earache, a cut, a minor burn or sprain, you can visit a Minor Injury and Illness Unit. No appointment is necessary during opening hours. Outwith these hours and during public holidays people are advised to call NHS 24 on 111.
For anything else, you are advised to contact your GP between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. When your GP surgery is closed, and you’re too ill to wait until it re-opens, you can access appropriate out-of-hours services (including a nurse or GP) through NHS 24 by calling 111.
Your local Primary Care out-of-hours service, which includes GPs, works with NHS 24 to make sure that urgent medical advice and care is always available to you.
Your local pharmacist can provide a whole range of services including free advice, support and guidance on all your health problems. Community pharmacies are open at convenient times on Saturdays and Sundays in many locations.
