Regular time slot for Kirriemuir hearing aid service

The free drop in service for hearing aid users in Kirriemuir will run on the first Wednesday of every month, starting on 5 September.

The free drop-in re-tubing clinic and replacement battery service will be held in Kirriemuir Health Centre on the first Wednesday of every month between 2 and 4pm.

This new drop-in clinic is part of a Tayside-wide service which is being delivered by specially trained volunteers. The NHS volunteers have been trained by NHS Tayside’s Audiology Service and can replace the tubing in ear moulds and provide replacement batteries for NHS hearing aid users. Unfortunately volunteers are unable to re-tube open fit aids which have the thin wire with tip in ear.

It is important that hearing aid users bring along their yellow book as this is required to be produced to receive batteries.

Samantha Batty, Head of Service NHS Tayside Audiology and Balance Service, said, “We are very pleased that volunteers have taken on this role with the support from the NHS Tayside’s audiology team.

“With drop-in clinics taking place at various locations across the county it is hoped that hearing aid users will find this service helpful.”

Angus Drop-in clinics for the re-tubing of mould type hearing aids and replacement battery service are being held at:

Abbey Health Centre, Arbroath weekly on Thursdays between 2 - 4pm

Links Health Centre, Montrose on the second and fourth Friday of each month from 10am – 12 noon

Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre, Forfar weekly on Tuesdays between 10am - 12 noon

and Thursdays 2 - 4pm
