New art exhibition at Stracathro cafe
The art gallery in The Pavilion @ Stracathro cafe in the grounds of Stracathro Hospital is hosting a new art exhibition.
The exhibition, running from 14 September to 23 November, features the work of Fife artist Jenny Moran. Working mainly in acrylics, she is inspired by the landscape of North East Fife and by the majestic Tentsmuir Forest.
Speaking about her work, Jenny said, “I spend a lot of time outdoors and love how a familiar landscape can change unexpectedly with the shadow from a passing cloud, a sudden squall or a shaft of sunlight. Being outside helps to put any troubles and worries into perspective and a long walk in the company of a muddy dog, is good for the soul.
“I have sketched and painted all my life but only in recent years have I had the time to paint more seriously.”
The exhibitions at the cafe are changed approximately every eight weeks and local artists are invited to display their work. The cafe is open Monday to Friday from 8am until 4pm.
The majority of the art on display at the gallery is for sale, with each participating artist donating 20% commission of sales to Stracathro Hospital. All money raised is used to enhance the Stracathro Hospital environment for patients and visitors.
