GP flu vaccination clinics

NHS Tayside is encouraging members of the public in at-risk groups, as well as healthcare workers, to take up the offer of a free seasonal flu vaccination.

The national seasonal flu vaccination campaign launches in October and NHS Tayside is backing the call for those who are most at risk to protect themselves from flu.

The vaccine is available free of charge from GP practices for people in at-risk groups, pregnant women, those aged 65 years and over and unpaid carers.

Drop-in clinics are being held for adults in the following GP practices:

If your GP practice is not listed above, please contact them for details of their arrangements.

Children aged between two and five who are not at school can also receive the childhood flu immunisation at their GP surgery. Please contact the practice to arrange appointments.

All NHS Tayside staff and volunteers are also encouraged to take up the offer of a flu jab at staff clinics and participating community pharmacies across Tayside to protect themselves and vulnerable patients who may be more likely to suffer complications from flu.

NHS Tayside Consultant in Public Health Dr Daniel Chandler said, “Flu can be very serious. It spreads easily and is much worse than a bad cold. It can affect everyone, but the risk is greater for young children, pregnant women, older people and those with existing health conditions.

“The best way to get protected is to have this year’s flu vaccine – the sooner the better. It only takes a few moments and the more people who are vaccinated, the less likely flu is to spread. So don’t leave it too late – get ready for flu this winter.”
