Award-winning fundraiser donates to Ninewells breast screening unit

Perth fundraiser June Craig presented a cheque for £2,400 to the breast screening unit at Ninewells Hospital.

June, who is a patient of the unit, began fundraising when her late husband was diagnosed with cancer. She has previously raised money for the breast screening unit and other local charities, donating over £100,000 to charities in Tayside. She was awarded the British Empire Medal in the Queen’s New Year Honours list in 2017 for her fundraising activities.

Her latest donation of £2,400 was raised with the help of her friends and colleagues from the Ex-Servicemen’s Club in Perth. June’s friends Rab Dunn and Andy Murray joined her at the breast screening unit to hand over the cheque to staff.

Breast screening services manager Debbie Archibald said, “We are very grateful to June for her ongoing support for the Breast Service.

“She has been involved in significant fundraising over the past few years and we would like to express our thanks to June and all her friends and members of the Ex-Servicemen’s Club who have contributed to the fundraising, as well as the businesses who have donated raffle prizes and paid for entertainment at some of her events.

“We are planning on using her donation to purchase some new equipment for our examination rooms which will benefit patients who attend the clinic.”
