Knitted with love for the tiny tots
The ladies from Perth Shawl Ministry came with gifts when they visited the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Ninewells Hospital Wednesday, 28 November.
Loaded down with hand-knitted baby blankets, tiny hats, sweaters and cardigans, the ladies from Perth Shawl Ministry and friends from a local craft class visited NICU to donate this season’s products.
The donated blankets and tiny pieces of clothing are most welcome gifts to the little babies and their parents as the babies are often too small for standard store-brought clothing.
Margaret Laing from Perth Shawl Ministry said, “We have made several donations like these because this is such a wonderful unit, and it is always so lovely for the ladies to come through and see the little babies.”
Alison Findlay, senior charge nurse at the unit, said, “The knit and natter group in Perth have supported us for some years now providing much needed knitted items and garments for our babies as well as supplying very creative and sensitive items for the labour suite.
“It was my pleasure to meet so many of the ladies and to thank them personally for their help and support.”
