Donation to thank staff in Ward 26

Betty Melville visited staff in Ward 26 at Ninewells Hospital to hand over a cheque for £295.

Betty had spent time in the Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Ward and wanted to thank the staff for the excellent care that she received from the healthcare team that looked after her. When Betty’s husband, Mark, served as captain of Strathmore Golf Club, he had the honour to select where the money raised at the Captain’s Charity Day was to be donated. With Betty having been a patient in Ward 26 the decision to donate the proceeds from the Captain’s Charity Day to the ward was an easy one.

Betty said, “I had no doubts of where I wanted the money to go. I’m a regular patient in Ward 26 and I wanted to give something back.

“We have donated a few things before, and this is just a little cheque, but it’s still something. We have very much had our money’s worth so this is just a way to say thank you for all my care.”

Accepting the donation on behalf of the ward, Mr Jaiganesh Manickavasagam, ENT Consultant, said, “This is very kind and we really appreciate this donation from Betty and the Strathmore Golf Club. The advancements in head and neck cancer treatment are huge and donations like these are valuable because they can be put towards innovative new equipment such as robots, and staff training which will enable us to provide optimum and up-to-date care.”
