New art exhibition at Whitehills gallery

Patients, staff and visitors at Whitehills Health & Community Care Centre in Forfar can enjoy a new exhibition.

Running until the end of February, the new art exhibition features watercolours by Angus artist Bob Stevens.

Speaking about his art, Bob said, “I am retired, live in Friockheim, and began painting in watercolours about 19 years ago. A part from an O Level in Art from 1958 and a couple of art modules from Angus College in Arbroath, I have no other art-related qualifications. Progress was slow while trying to work on my own, but I began to improve after joining the Colliston Art Society which at the time was lucky to have fellow Friockheim resident Moira Hamilton Speirs as a tutor.

“My favourite subjects are flowers from my garden and old fishing boats. I frame my own sketches, and I have had some success selling my work at local art exhibitions. The profits from all my sales I donate to local medical charities to help those in our community less fortunate in health than myself.”

The gallery is situated in the main corridor of the building and is open to the public daily from 9am until 7pm. All works are for sale with 20% commission on sales being donated to Whitehills.

Situated in the main corridor, the gallery has provided space for many local artists to show their work and the public are invited to pop in and view this new exhibition.
