New venue for Dundee hearing aid drop-in service

A drop-in clinic for hearing aid users in Dundee is moving to a new venue at North East Sensory Services (NESS).

The free drop-in re-tubing clinic and replacement battery service will be held at NESS at Number Ten, 10 Constitution Road, Dundee on the third Thursday of every month between 10am and noon. This will replace the drop-in clinic previously held in Central Library in Dundee.

These drop-in clinics are part of a Tayside-wide service which is delivered by NHS hearing aid support volunteers who have been trained by NHS Tayside’s Audiology Service to renew the tubing in ear moulds and replace batteries for NHS hearing aid users. Unfortunately volunteers are unable to re-tube open fit aids which have the thin wire with the tip in ear.

Similar drop-in clinics are also available for hearing aid users in Angus and Perth & Kinross.

Anyone attending for batteries or tubing will need to present their yellow book which shows that they have an NHS hearing aid.

Samantha Batty, Head of Service NHS Tayside Audiology and Balance Service, said, “We are very pleased that we have dedicated volunteers who have taken on this role with the support from NHS Tayside’s audiology team.

“Hearing aid users have found it helpful that we have drop-in clinics at various locations across the city, and we are pleased that we can now also offer this service at NESS.”

Drop-in clinics are being held in Dundee for re-tubing and replacement batteries at:

Broughty Ferry Library – Second Monday of every month between 10am and noon and last Friday of every month between 1.30pm and 3.30pm

NESS, Number Ten – Third Thursday of every month between 10am and noon

Lochee Library – Second Wednesday of every month between 1.30pm and 3.30pm

Tayside Deaf Hub – Monday to Friday (9am-5pm)

Deaflinks Charity Shop (Wellgate Centre) – Monday to Saturday (9am-5pm)

Ninewells Hospital Health Shop (Main Concourse):
