Temporary changes to Pitlochry Minor Injury and Illness Unit opening hours
Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership advises that Pitlochry Minor Injury and Illness Unit (MIIU) opening times will change temporarily on some dates in May.
Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership Chief Officer Gordon Paterson said, “It is essential that we provide an MIIU service with appropriately skilled staff which is safe for patients and staff. Our MIIU units require highly skilled nurses, who undertake specialist training to offer the full range of professional skills required by people using the MIIU service.
“We are unfortunately experiencing ongoing staffing challenges in North Perthshire and although we have managed to cover the majority of dates in May, there are some days when this has not been possible. Therefore, we have had to make the difficult decision to temporarily restrict the opening hours of the unit on a small number of dates next month.
“I would like to thank the local community for their understanding in recent months during the previous changes to the opening hours at Pitlochry MIIU and would like to apologise for any disruption the temporary changes next month may cause. I would also like to reassure members of the public that we are working to address the recruitment challenges in North Perthshire and are continuing to explore how models of care can support local healthcare provision.”
The MIIU will be closed on the following dates in May:
• Friday, 3 May 2019
• Sunday, 5 May 2019
• Sunday, 12 May 2019
• Friday, 24 May 2019
The MIIU will also operate on restricted opening hours between 10am to 4pm on the following dates:
• Saturday, 11 May, 2019
• Saturday, 18 May, 2019
• Monday, 20 May, 2019
• Wednesday, 22 May, 2019
Normal opening hours for the MIIU will continue on all other dates in May. The MIIU’s normal opening hours are Monday to Friday between 9am and 6pm and Saturday and Sunday between 9am to 9pm.

You can contact your GP between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday. When your GP surgery is closed and you’re too ill to wait until it re-opens, you can access appropriate out-of-hours services (including a nurse or GP) through NHS 24 by calling 111.
Your local pharmacist can provide a whole range of services including free advice, support and guidance on all your health problems. Community pharmacies are open at convenient times on Saturdays and Sundays in many locations.
